Rioters have set fire to a police precinct in Minneapolis after protests over George Floyd‘s death has escalated.
Demonstrations have erupted in the city over the past two days after the African American man died while being pinned to the ground by a white police officer who knelt on his neck. Floyd said “Please, please, please, I can’t breathe. Please, man”, during the arrest before he died.
There have been reports of looting, stabbings and one person being shot dead, as residents became angry at an African American being killed by a white policeman.
Tensions have reached a breaking point, and rioters have set a police department building in the city’s 3rd Precinct on fire.
President Donald Trump is promising hard response if the looting and violence continue.
The National Guard has been activated.
